Unit 1: Assessment criteria


  1. To know the characteristics of living things.
  2. To explain the differences between an inorganic compound and an organic one and to give examples of each of them.
  3. To define the three vital functions.
  4. To classify the living things according to the number of cells the organism has.
  5. To know the different levels of organization of multicellular organisms (without tissues, with tissues, with organs, with systems) and to give an example of an organisms from each level. 
  6. To know the name of the five kingdoms, the type of cells they are made of and give, at least, an example of an organism from each kingdom.
  7. To explain what a tissue, an organ and a system are.
  8. Given a diagram of a cell, to label the organelles and explain their functions.
  9. To know the discoveries related to the cell by Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, Robert Hooke, M. Schleiden and T.Schwan.
  10. To know the statements of the cell theory.
