Assessment criteria unit 5


  • To define ecosystem, biotope, biocenosis, biosphere, ecosphere, adaptation, trophic level, biome.
  • Given an ecosystem, to identify its elements: the biotic components of the biocenosis and the abiotic factors of the biotope.
  • To give some examples of the relationships between the abiotic components (light, temperature and water) and the biocenosis: adaptations.
  • To explain and to know the name of the relationships between the living things in the biocenosis (intraspecific, interspecific and their types).
  • To explain the characteristics of the trophic levels of an ecosystem and to classify groups of living things according to their trophic level.
  • To make food chains and webs.
  • To distinguish between the different zones in marine ecosystems and to name some of the organisms that inhabit them.
  • To explain the differences between wetlands and rivers and to name some of the organisms that inhabit these ecosystems.
  • To know and to locate the climate zones in the Earth.
  • To know which biomes are in each of the Earth's climate zones.
  • Given a map with the location of the biomes, to identify them
  • To know the main characteristics of the different biomes of our planet:climate, flora, and fauna.
